How Auto-Delete Works

Keeping customer data forever is a liability. With Boei, you set it and forget it:

  1. Configure your retention period. Go to Settings > Data Retention and set the number of days per domain (e.g. 90 days, 180 days, 365 days)
  2. Daily cleanup runs automatically. Every day at 02:00 UTC, Boei checks for closed conversations older than your threshold
  3. Complete deletion. The process removes the conversation, all messages, metadata, read receipts, and internal copilot notes
  4. Orphan cleanup. Contacts with no remaining conversations or deals are automatically deleted too

An easy way to add a communication widget to the website. I like best that it supports Messenger and Whatsaap, phone, email and live chat and it is easy to translate for multilingual pages. I can't think about real drowbacks. The [SENSITIVE CONTENT] reply all the support questions quickly and effectively, they are open to feedback. I had no issues at all with this software. Maybe if they could add some protection against spammers if you use the contact form and in some future add a chatbot, that would be fantastic.

How does auto-delete work?

Set a retention period per domain in Settings > Data Retention. Every day at 02:00 UTC, Boei automatically deletes all closed conversations older than your threshold. This includes messages, metadata, read receipts, and internal notes. Contacts with no remaining conversations or deals are cleaned up too.

How do I handle a right-to-be-forgotten request?

Find the contact in your Boei dashboard and click erase. This permanently deletes all their conversations, messages, deals, contact metadata, and the contact record. It's immediate and complete - no support ticket needed.

Is auto-delete available on all plans?

Yes. Data retention settings and right-to-be-forgotten erasure are available on every Boei plan, starting from Starter at $19/month.

What exactly gets deleted with auto-delete?

When a closed conversation exceeds your retention threshold, Boei deletes the conversation record, all messages within it, message metadata, read receipts, and copilot (internal) messages. If a contact has no remaining conversations or deals after cleanup, the contact is deleted too.

What gets deleted with right to be forgotten?

Everything related to that contact: all conversations and their messages, all deals (detached from tags first), all contact metadata, and the contact record itself. It's a complete erasure as required by GDPR Article 17.

Can I run the chatbot without any cookies?

Yes. Boei offers a fully cookieless mode with no cookies and no local storage. The chatbot works completely without client-side storage. This means you don't need a cookie consent banner for Boei.

Where is my data stored?

On EU servers. The default stack uses DigitalOcean in Amsterdam. For full EU-only AI processing, choose Mistral AI and your data stays on Hetzner servers in Germany with AI processing in France. See our EU-hosted chatbot page for details.

Does Boei use my data to train AI?

No. Your customer conversations are never used for AI model training. Not by Boei, and not by our AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Google). Your data is only used to respond to your visitors.

Do you offer a Data Processing Agreement?

Yes. A full DPA is included with every plan. It covers sub-processors, data locations, security measures, and your rights as data controller.
