Effective date: April 17, 2026
This is the cookie statement of Ruby Foundry B.V., trading as Boei, hereinafter: Boei. Boei is registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce with number 99995662 and is located at Mulderstraat 35 (3581GP) in Utrecht (The Netherlands). This statement explains which cookies we set, why we set them, and how you can manage them.
A cookie is a small text file that is sent along with pages from this website and stored by your browser on the device you use to view the website. Cookies allow a site to remember information about your visit, such as your session or preferences.
Because Boei offers a chat widget that runs on other people's websites, Boei's cookies can appear in three different contexts:
Each context is described below.
Boei uses the following cookies on boei.help:
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
cookie_consent |
Remembers your cookie preference so we don't ask again on every visit. | Functional (strictly necessary) | 1 year |
vid |
A random anonymous visitor identifier used to attribute signups to marketing campaigns (e.g., affiliate or referral tracking). Contains no personal information. | Functional | 1 year |
widget_load_key |
Set by the Boei chat widget on our own website so the AI chatbot can remember the conversation across page loads. Contains a random identifier only. | Functional | 30 days |
Beyond the consent-required analytics and advertising cookies disclosed in the next section, Boei does not set any additional tracking pixels, retargeting cookies, or third-party social-media cookies (Meta/Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok) on boei.help.
On boei.help we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (including the Google Ads conversion linker) to measure campaign performance and understand how our marketing pages are used. Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented: these tags default to denied and only load the cookies listed below after you accept them via the cookie banner. If you do not accept, none of these cookies are set.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 - distinguishes unique visitors for aggregated traffic reporting. | Analytics (consent required) | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> |
Google Analytics 4 - persists session state for the specific GA4 property. | Analytics (consent required) | Up to 2 years |
_gcl_au |
Google Ads conversion linker - attributes signups to the Google Ads campaign that brought the visitor to our site. No advertising profile is built on our end. | Advertising (consent required) | 90 days |
_gcl_aw, _gcl_dc |
Google Ads click identifier cookies - set only if the visitor arrives from a Google Ads click (i.e., the URL contains a gclid/gbraid/wbraid parameter) to enable accurate conversion attribution. |
Advertising (consent required, conditional) | 90 days |
We use Plausible Analytics for privacy-friendly, cookie-less aggregate traffic metrics (no cookies, no personal profiles). Plausible is loaded regardless of your cookie choice because it does not process personal data for analytics purposes. We do not share advertising or analytics data with brokers and we do not use these cookies to build personal profiles or to retarget individual users.
You can revoke your consent at any time by clearing your cookies and reloading the page, or by choosing the "essential only" option in the cookie banner when it reappears.
When you sign in to the Boei admin application, the following cookies are set. These are strictly necessary to keep you logged in and to protect your account from cross-site request forgery.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
boei_session |
Authenticated session for the logged-in Boei user. Required for the application to function. | Functional (strictly necessary) | Session (up to 7 days) |
XSRF-TOKEN |
Cross-site request forgery protection token. | Functional (strictly necessary) | Session (up to 7 days) |
widget_load_key |
Set by the Boei support widget inside the admin app so our support AI can remember previous conversations you've had with us. | Functional | 30 days |
When a Boei customer installs the Boei widget on their own website, the widget sets the following cookie in visitors' browsers, on the customer's domain:
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
widget_load_key |
A random identifier that enables returning-visitor recognition and conversation continuity: it allows the AI chatbot to remember the conversation when the visitor reloads the page or returns later. Contains no personal information. | Functional (returning-visitor recognition - consent-required under the EU ePrivacy Directive) | 30 days |
This cookie is set on the customer's domain, not on boei.help. The operator of the customer website is the controller for that cookie and is responsible for obtaining any required cookie consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive and its national implementations. Boei customers can disable the cookie-setting behaviour of the widget from their business settings inside the Boei admin application. If you are a visitor who encountered this cookie on another website, please refer to that website's own cookie and privacy policy for details.
Customers often ask how to describe Boei in their own cookie statement and privacy policy. The two blocks below are provided as inspiration only - they are not legal advice, and you should adapt them to your own situation and have them reviewed by your own counsel before publishing. As the website operator, you are the controller for visitors on your site and responsible for your own disclosures and any required consent.
Chat widget (Boei)
We use Boei to provide a chat and AI assistant on our website. When the chat widget loads, it may set the following cookie on your device:
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
widget_load_key |
A random identifier that allows the chat assistant to recognise a returning visitor and continue an earlier conversation. Contains no personal information. | Functional (returning-visitor recognition) | 30 days |
The chat provider is Ruby Foundry B.V. (trading as Boei), based in the Netherlands. For more information, see the Boei cookie statement.
Chat and AI assistant (Boei)
We use Boei (Ruby Foundry B.V., the Netherlands) to operate the chat widget and AI assistant on our website. When you send a message through the chat, the following data is processed on our behalf:
widget_load_key cookie that allows the assistant to continue an earlier conversation;Boei acts as our data processor. To generate AI responses, Boei may in turn send the content of the conversation to a third-party AI model provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral or Google) for processing. These providers process the data transiently to generate a response and do not use it to train their models.
For full details of how Boei handles this data, see the Boei Data Processing Agreement and the Boei sub-processor list.
Note: the exact wording you need depends on how you use Boei (for example, which AI provider you have enabled, whether you have turned off the cookie, whether you collect leads, and where your visitors are based). The above is a starting point, not a substitute for your own privacy review.
Beyond the Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion-tracking cookies disclosed above (which only load after consent), Boei does not use:
If you do not want websites to place cookies on your device, you can adjust your browser settings. Note that if you block the strictly necessary cookies listed above, parts of our website or admin app may not function properly. You can also delete any cookies that have already been placed; consult your browser's documentation for instructions.
This cookie statement does not apply to third-party websites linked from our website. We cannot guarantee how those third parties handle your data. We recommend reviewing each website's own privacy and cookie policies.
Boei may update this cookie statement from time to time. The most recent version is always published on this page.
