Connect with MCP

Connect your chatbot to services like Zoho CRM, Zoho Desk, and others that support MCP (Model Context Protocol). MCP gives the richest integration: Boei automatically discovers everything the service can do.

How to get there: Go to Setup → AI agent in the top menu → click your chatbot → Copilot tab.

What is MCP?

MCP is a standard way for AI tools to talk to external services. When you connect a service via MCP, Boei automatically discovers all available operations (read contacts, create records, update deals, etc.) without you configuring each one manually.

Connecting a Service

Step 1: Start in the Copilot

Open the Copilot tab and tell it which service you want to connect:

  • "Connect to Zoho CRM"
  • "Connect Zoho Desk"

The Copilot checks if it knows the service and gives you specific instructions.

Step 2: Get Your MCP Configuration

The Copilot tells you exactly where to find it. For Zoho CRM:

  1. In Zoho CRM, go to Setup → Developer Hub → MCP for AI Agents.
  2. Select the server you want (e.g. "Data Operations").
  3. Copy the configuration block (the mcp.json).
  4. Paste it in the Copilot chat.

Step 3: Authorize

The Copilot gives you a link to click. This opens a new tab where you log into the service and approve the connection. Once done, close that tab.

Boei handles token refresh automatically. You do not need to re-authorize unless you revoke access in the service's settings.

Step 4: Review Discovered Tools

Go to the Integrations tab and click on your connected service. You see all the tools Boei discovered.

  • Read tools are enabled by default. These let the chatbot look up information.
  • Write tools are disabled by default. Toggle them on when you want the chatbot to create or update records.

Creating Actions for Your Chatbot

The connection does not give your chatbot direct access to the service. You create specific actions that define exactly what the chatbot can do.

In the Copilot tab, say something like:

  • "Save visitor contact info to Zoho CRM after each chat"
  • "Look up the customer in Zoho when they give their email"
  • "Create a Zoho Desk ticket when the bot escalates"

The Copilot creates the action, tests it with sample data, and shows you the result.

You can see your actions on the Actions tab.

Managing Your Connection

On the Integrations page, click your connected service to:

  • Enable or disable tools with the toggle switches.
  • Refresh tools if the service added new capabilities.
  • Disconnect the service.

Troubleshooting

"Authorization Required" badge
Click the Connect button to log into the service again.

An action fails
Check the call log on the Actions tab. It shows what data was sent and what the service returned.

Service not showing on the Integrations page
Services only appear after you connect them through the Copilot.
